In the Singapore market, North Heavy Industries supplied multiple shield machines for the Thomson Line of Singapore's MRT. The T216 project is equipped with four φ6.66m slurry balance shield machines. With the fourth one passing the factory acceptance, the project was successfully completed, and these four machines are also the 4th to 7th ones produced for this line. Among the two φ6.66m earth pressure balance shield machines in the T222 project, the second one will undergo factory acceptance in early 2016, being the 8th one for this line, highlighting its significant contribution.
For the São Paulo Metro project in Brazil, North Heavy Industries provided two 10.6m diameter shield machines (earth pressure type and dual-mode (earth pressure/rock) type). The second dual-mode shield machine was assembled and delivered in the first half of that year, expanding its influence in the South American market.
In April 2015, North Heavy Industries rolled off the production line Asia's largest diameter Φ14.10m composite earth pressure balance shield machine, which was custom-made for the Hong Kong Liantang Highway Tunnel. With a construction length of 4.8km, it demonstrated the company's strength in manufacturing extra-large diameter shield machines.
In June 2014, four Φ6.99m double-shield TBMs developed by North Heavy Industries were applied to the Sydney Northwest Rail Link project. The entire line was completed by mid-October 2015, with a maximum monthly advance of 884m. Among them, TBM3 set a daily tunneling record of 79.9m by assembling 47 rings of segments within 24 hours, embodying the high efficiency and reliability of the equipment.
